Student Feedback

A day at this site included texting clients about their appointments, reviewing and/or writing biopsychosocial assessments, filing receipts, filing client information, conducting intakes, and once a month attending the alcohol awareness class. I was able to practice and learn skills such as filing, writing a report on a client for treatment purposes, and work on communication skills in a professional setting. The most enjoyable part of my internship was interacting with clients during intakes and going to open houses at rehab facilities. A student with hopes of learning about a private practice or clinical setting would benefit from this site. They should be outgoing, confident, and open-minded. It is important that students considering this site know that they will not get to sit in on counseling sessions. However, they will learn a lot about the clients through reading and writing their assessments.
