Prevention First (part of The United Way)
Overview
Prevention First Inc. is a non-profit organization that strives to provide education and support for children and families pertaining to drug and alcohol use. Their mission is to keep children safe and drug-free. The organization not only provides educational resources but also professional certification training, referral to outside resource centers, program development, research and coalition building. Prevention First is also affiliated with the Prevention Coalition of Monmouth County.
Prevention First also offers programs to children on bullying, life skills, health education, peer pressure resistance, and substance abuse prevention. These programs are offered from pre-school through adulthood.
Volunteer Duties
- Clerical and administrative duties such as copying documents and filing, phone calls, organizing office resources
- Researching substance abuse topics and resources and preparing materials for presentations
- Contacting and coordinating with outside businesses and organizations
Requirements
- Must be able to work within a time frame from 9am-5pm Monday through Friday. Interns may choose any specific day/time frame that fits their schedule during the week
- Sign in and out and keep an accurate record of hours completed
- Have own transportation to drive to internship
