Student Feedback

While at the Oceans Family Success Center, I had worked on several major projects, the first was to compile a list of nearby resources (i.e. housing, utility, hygiene, clothing, food assistance) to be put onto an iPad that will be taken out to help clients fill out applications, find resources or schedule appointments. I practiced skills in statistics and counting through my participation in events we host and in the excel sheets I worked on and improved. The most enjoyable part about the position here is getting to explore your interests. I realized how much I enjoyed working on a challenge because of my interests. Along with, a large reason I am considering continuing at the site next semester is because I could incorporate my interest of tutoring children. Due to the new addition of tutoring next semester, this site could now be appropriate for those interested in working with children. Outside of this, it is good if you are interested in community psychology, social services, working with adults and the elderly, and are willing to put in some grunt work. This site is looking for people who are willing to help. If you are looking for somewhere to apply to this is a great site, as a bonus they will answer your phone calls and likely accept you as an intern in case you are worried about finding a site. ~Tara Mahon, Fall24
