NJ State Parole Board
Overview
The NJ State Parole Board has various locations throughout New Jersey. Psychology majors completing an internship with the Parole Board will work with Parole Counselors in secure institutions or the Community Programs Division and be exposed to individuals with mental disorders.
Duties
- Shadow Parole Counselor. Reviewing case files, assisting with offender intake processing, organizing offender classification and court paperwork, witnessing interview sessions, revocation hearings, and sex offender counseling sessions.
Requirements
Complete application. Note deadlines:
Fall semester: Application deadline July 1st
Spring semester: Application deadline November 15th
Summer Semester: Application deadline March 15th
- interest in Criminal Justice and Mental Health
- background check and fingerprinting required
- understand and follow rules, regulations and policies
- attend orientation and training
- wear provided ID at all times
