Student Feedback
In the marketing department at Adapting Social I worked as a consumer behavior analyst intern. My responsibilities at Adapting Social change each day, and I have gotten the opportunity to help with many different projects, working with a variety of clients to help promote brand awareness for their individual businesses. My day consisted of completing consumer behavior reports for a variety of companies such as health food companies, realtors, event venues, music licensing platforms, and more. The consumer behavior reports allowed me to assess and report what the buyers journey would consist of from awareness to consideration to the decision of choosing that specified product or service. Part of a consumer behavior report also consists of assesses the company’s product/services strengths and weaknesses and what other competitors have to offer to see where our client can improve in reaching their consumers’ needs.
A large part of marketing that I have enjoyed experiencing at this internship has been taking on projects for companies regarding ad campaigns and web traffic. This consist of creating social media advertisements that will draw in consumer attention. Web traffic coincides with ad campaigns through determination of key words that a consumer may use to search for a product or service that the specified company is offering in order to direct the consumer. It was challenging as a psychology major to quickly learn about the field of marketing, which I had no prior knowledge of, but it was a great hands-on experience and rewarding to see the end results of projects. It became easier once I began to bridge the gap between psychology and marketing. Psychology plays a big role is marketing strategies through psychological principles such as social proof, scarcity effect, and clustering. It is important to understand how people work in order to grasp their attention and sell a product/service. Also, when designing social media posts or ad campaigns, psychology plays a large role in the psychology behind colors and how they are displayed through marketing. I learned that all colors are associated with different feelings, emotions, and stimulus. I feel that this internship site would be a great opportunity for someone who is creative and is looking for a career path in psychology rooted in marketing or business.
