Overview
Family Resource Associates (FRA) is non-profit organization located in Shrewsbury, NJ serving people of all ages with disabilities. FRA strives to provide the tools and education for people with disabilities to reach their fullest potential.
Duties
- Assist with life skills for individuals with disabilities (both developmental and acquired)
Requirements
- 18 years or older
- Psychology, Social Work, Health Studies Majors preferred

Student Feedback
During my time at FRA, I helped in many adult classes and acted as a teacher assistant. I
also helped facilitate the lessons, gave the students positive feedback, and was able to work one on one with students at a time. This gave me the opportunity of learning more about the students on a personal level. The skills I learned were how to handle behavioral problems among students, how to react to a student who doesn’t want to participate, and how to run an adult special needs class. The most enjoyable part of this position was being able to get hands on experience with the students. I was able to have conversations outside of the classroom as well, such as during lunch time. The best student for this site would be one who is extremely patient, kind-hearted, and nonjudgmental. It takes a positive, happy person to be at this site. When looking at where you want to intern, always look to see who you will interact with, and whether a certain population touches your heart and makes you love seeing them!
