Overview


The Sin Fronteras Chile Project gives students at Monmouth University to travel to La Pincoya in Santiago, Chile for 14 – 20 days over winter break. In Chile, students and faculty from Monmouth will work with neighborhood leaders and youth, helping plan and carry out a Colonia Urbana (summer camp) for children from La Pincoya. Students and faculty will also meet local leaders, visit schools, hospitals, and other institutions, travel around the city and have workshops and presentations on Chilean culture, history, economy, and human rights, and stay with families.

Duties


  • Evaluate cultural, political, economic and ethical influences on health of those living in Chile
  • Analyze contemporary health issues in developing nations
  • Deliver a health education lesson to a group of community health care workers



Requirements


  • Willing to travel to Sin Frontera, Chile
  • Cost: $1000- $1200
  • Travel Dates: Winter Break
  • Academic Credit: 3 credit hours, independent study
