Overview


The Children's Specialized Hospital is one of the largest centers for rehabilitation programs. The children's center looks after kid's with traumatic injuries, such as brain injury, spinal cord injury, premature birth, autism, developmental problems, and other physical illnesses. Their therapeutic program helps patients with their psychological, physical, verbal, and occupational problems. The hospital also provides neurological programs, recreational therapy for children, and support programs.

Duties

  • Work in the rehabilitation center for patients residing at the hospital
  • Interact with all of the patients of all ages (varying in injuries and illnesses)
  • Engage in pet visitation and animal assisted therapy



Requirements

  • Need to be involved with the Adapted Aquatics program
  • Reliable transportation
  • Dress professionally with an ID on clothing at all times
  • Scrubs allowed but jeans, t-shirts, sweatpants, and exercise pants are not allowed*
  • Closed-toed shoes only
  • For the aquatics program, the intern must have a one piece bathing suit and flip flops or water shoes, with shorts and optional t-shirt on top
  • Interns are expected to bring their own towel*
