CPC Behavioral Healthcare in Aberdeen, NJ is an Adult Partial Care Program. This non-profit organization helps clients 17-years-old and older. Clients can attend program five hours a day, one to five days a week. All clients have a primary diagnosis of an Axis I, severe mental illness (i.e. schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, major depressive disorder). Some clients have multiple diagnoses and others have a comorbid diagnosis of substance abuse or dependence. The staff is an interdisciplinary team that consists of licensed professional counselors, Master's level social workers, psychiatrists, nurses, support staff that help clients find housing and employment. The team helps clients manage their symptoms and learn to become a functioning member in their community.

Duties
- Attend staff meetings
- Assist clinicians in running group therapy
- Interact with clients
- Come up with check-in questions to begin group therapy
- Conduct check-ins which could consist of stress levels, anger levels, or overall wellness depending on the group
- Help clinicians with psychoeducation portion of group therapy
- Help serve lunch to clients
- Get client volunteers to serve lunch
- Write down client names who take lunch
- Run a lunch-time group
- Come up with topics for the group you are assigned to
Requirements
- Internships do not have to meet an hour requirement, however it is helpful if interns are able to work during the entire day (8:30 AM - around 3:00 PM) and participate in the full range of activities (e.g. morning staff meeting, morning psychotherapy group, lunch, lunch-time group, and afternoon psychotherapy group)
- Willingness to travel to Aberdeen, NJ (about 25 minutes from Monmouth University)
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Ability to talk in front of people (up to 30 people)
- Basic knowledge regarding abnormal psychology
